To prevent any major issues we like to set a few "common sense" rules when using the site.
- Do not post or link to any kind of adult or illegal content.
- Do not post any kind of personal information.
- No spamming or flooding of any kind.
- Advertising (in all forms) is not welcome. This includes any type of referral linking, "offers", etc.
- The use of bots or other automated posting scripts is prohibited.
- We reserve the right to revoke access or remove content without notice.
- These rules may be updated / modified from time-to-time
New images and videos may be held in a moderation queue in which a moderator will have to approve or decline the post. Sometimes posts will be automatically accepted into the database but may be removed at a later time if deemed inappropriate, a duplicate of an existing post, or not worthy of being posted in the database. Do not try to resubmit the post as it was probably removed with good reason.
Comments are always automatically approved but may be removed under the same conditions. There is a stored list of banned phrases which will not allow you to submit the comment. You will need to remove any words or phrases that may be on that list before the comment will submit.
When submitting a YouTube URL, it needs to be in a specific format to be recognised correctly. The guide bellow shows what's required and optional.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID&t=1m33s
You can also use a https link insted of http. It makes no difference in how the video is fetched; it's just for convenience if you use the https version of YouTube.
Tripcodes can help verify a user's identity to others, and are a type of pseudo-registration. To use a tripcode simply add ( # ) to the end of you name in the [Name] field followed by a short word or phrase (e.g. User#password). Upon submission, the server will generate the hash unique to that particular word or phrase. The previous example would display "User !ozOtJW9BFA" after being posted.
- For more info see the Wikipedia article on Tripcodes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripcode.
- Secure Tripcodes are currently not implemented on this board.
- When a staff member posts with a tripcode, it will appear in a different colour compared to standard tripcode.
To add new tags to a post, click the pencil icon next to the tag list. Add a few words that are related to the post separated by commas ( , ). When you submit your tags they will be added to the current list of tags for that post and will now appear in the search page when queried for them.
- Tags must be between 3 to 15 characters long.
- Tags cannot contain any symbols except underscores. ( _ )
- A post can have a maximum of 10 tags to it.
If your tag didn't appear it probably didn't meet the above critera.
You can either like or dislike a post once every 24 hours.
To quote a portion of text, simply place a greater than symbol ( > ) in front of the text you wish to highlight in the comment box (e.g. >This is a quote). The text will continue to highlight until either a line break has been entered or to the end of the comment.
To reply to a comment posted, click the post number on the comment(s) you would like to reply to. A '@' symbol followed by the comment ID will be inserted into the comment box (e.g. @666). When the comment is submitted it will transform into a clickable link which will highlight the comment that was replied to.
There are a few reasons why this error may occur.
- Your cookies are turned off. To reduce the amount of spam that is posted, posting requires you to have cookies enabled.
- JavaScript is turned off. To be able to set cookies, JavaScript needs to be enabled.
- You pressed refresh. This prevents an accidental attempt to double post.
If you want to promote Techbuket you can post links to Techbuket on different web forums, blogs or imageboards. You could also share links to some of your favourite posts. If you own a blog or website you may also help advertise using this small graphic bellow.
Because of the amount of traffic Techbuket can generate our web hosting bills come at a bit of a price. If you would like to help donate to Techbuket, please click the donate button bellow. Donations go directly to our web host.
Note: Dreamhost has recently raised the minimum donation from $1 to $10, which is a tad annoying but is essentially the fault of PayPal and their uselessness. If you want to wire me the monies some other way, email me using the address in the next section.
If you have a problem, a question or a suggestion, you can ask me a question on Formspring, and also on Twitter. If you would prefer to email me, the address is .... I am online most of the time so I should respond within a few hours.
