Will work for power, but not data.

Myth busted.

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:11 PM] [#84]

It should do, but the thumbdrive is probably USB 2.0, and the adaptor probably isn't. So that might be an issue.

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:21 PM] [#86]

That won't work.

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:21 PM] [#87]

*facepalm*

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:22 PM] [#88]

did it?

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:23 PM] [#89]

Sure it will, once you write a driver for it...

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:25 PM] [#90]

Clearly won't work. For a start you as far as I know you couldn't even run a USB Pen Drive through that PS2-USB Mouse Converter. Let alone the serial adapter ect in chain. Lolz

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:32 PM] [#92]

I tried it and It works!

No you didn't, and no it doesn't

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:44 PM] [#98]

It does not WORK! I tried it on my MS DOS 6.0 machine. DOS rules!

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:45 PM] [#99]

it works you dumbfucks

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:46 PM] [#101]

Hell yer DOS

Techwhizchink [06-06-2010, 05:50 PM] [#103]

what does it do?

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 05:53 PM] [#106]

Yes it does! It totally works... I even hooked a USB hub up this way and typed this message through a USB keyboard that was attached while watching a video that was on the thumb drive. If you can't get it to work, you must be doing something wrong. Go find someone who knows something about computers before you come back and claim this doesn't work.

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 06:05 PM] [#111]

i tried usb, ps/2. not working..

If you have ever woken up in the middle of the night and found you can’t move, or even cry for help, you have experienced sleep paralysis.

Kinda Lingers [06-06-2010, 11:08 PM] [#128]

Nice finish on the table top. Is it real wood?

Anonymous [06-06-2010, 11:43 PM] [#129]

It will not work, there's not enough power in the centronics port, but if somehow you got it powered up, and if you wrote some software to drive the port, it could work.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 12:40 AM] [#131]

You should have seen the adapter I made, had SCSI to ethernet to serial and vga!
Despite one of my co-workers thinking it wasn't very funny as she sat and unplugged all of them :/

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 01:07 AM] [#132]

YES it works. It keeps the dust out of the ports and connectors.

CNMOH [07-06-2010, 01:38 AM] [#133]

No, no, no, the real question is: Will it blend?

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 02:14 AM] [#134]

You can't sex that

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 04:26 AM] [#136]

@113

thanks for the tip :)

Dylan [07-06-2010, 06:24 AM] [#140]

do you really care that much? dumb fucks. and dont bother replying to me because I will never check this webpage again.

TheTrevor [07-06-2010, 07:06 AM] [#146]

@129
That's not a Centronics port, it's 25-pin serial, so you'd probably need a 25-9 pin adaptor. Or omit the 9-25 pin, which would be less funny

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 07:06 AM] [#147]

Relax kids, it's a joke.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 07:42 AM] [#155]

NERDS.... I bet most of you popped a boner looking at this and ejaculated when you were able to argue over whether it would work or not.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 07:44 AM] [#156]

I'm ejaculating right now!

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 07:46 AM] [#157]

did that dude ^^^ just say ejaculated?

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 08:43 AM] [#159]

the guy in #106 is clearly a stupid fuckhead, watching a video from this thing? do you have any idea what the bandwith of ps2/serial is? you could maybe watch a poor resolution video off a cameraphone 1 frame every 2 minutes using this thing... (assuming you wrote a driver to make it work) but a normal video in normal speed? no fucking way.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 08:58 AM] [#160]

Hehe, nice nerdsnipe.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 10:09 AM] [#162]

such good idea!

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 10:26 AM] [#163]

If by "worked" you mean you successfully checked your prostate with it, then yes.

Raytrace [07-06-2010, 11:15 AM] [#183]

It will not work because most of the serial to ps2 converters and proprietary. I think it is the same with ps2 to USB convertors.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 11:54 AM] [#190]

the vga adapter has an svideo port not an mouse port you dumbfuckers... -.-

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 11:55 AM] [#191]

you're going serial through a parallel port plug, no it won't work

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 01:12 PM] [#199]

i am sure it will work, but you will have to write a driver fisrt, so your pc knows howto get your files
ps: ITS DOS MOTHARFAKKA!!!!!! AND IT RULEZ!!!!!

PapaJOE [07-06-2010, 01:30 PM] [#201]

@155
At least we are able to ejaculate....

Asif Ali [07-06-2010, 01:50 PM] [#208]

It will not work

becuz LPT port needs drivers to eve n transfer single byte of data, so if you are able to write the correct drivers of LPT
The problem doesnt over yet, then you will need DB9 to usb drivers which will convert your so called created drivers to be translated into usb protocol

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 01:54 PM] [#210]

Not only did it work, I used it to take the eggs out of the pan.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 02:56 PM] [#226]

Damn Fine Paperweight!!!

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 03:07 PM] [#229]

Shopped! I can tell by the pixels.

Anonymous2 [07-06-2010, 03:25 PM] [#230]

No, it won't work, unless some smartass writes an driver to make it work.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 11:29 PM] [#291]

I tried it and I died.

Anonymous [07-06-2010, 11:43 PM] [#293]

i like this adapter
he is a cool guy who doesnt afraid of anything

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 12:39 AM] [#298]

you know you could just take out the video card, and then take it around with you. and just easily take the computer apart you want to use it then XD

I can't believe we scrolled down and read all these posts!

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 12:53 AM] [#303]

it really works

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 12:53 AM] [#304]

It will not work, as already said, there won't be enough power through the ports used.

Drivers shouldn't be an issue, purely power

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 12:59 AM] [#305]

You can buy one of them here: http://www.leekspin.com/

I have a large penis and it works

PCs Suck! [08-06-2010, 01:14 AM] [#308]

I prefer to use this setup because the adapters amplify the power throughput, allowing me to transfer files at close to mach2 speeds. And no, you don't need a driver for it if you have a mac because macs are smarter than PCs. And I have a larger penis.

Patrick !F13ZV2U14U [08-06-2010, 01:16 AM] [#309]

Let's spread bullshit stories about #140! :D I bet he wears womens' lingerie!

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 02:42 AM] [#336]

the DB25 to DB9 Serial adapter coupled with the DB9 to PS/2 adapter would work with an old mouse that came with a DB9 to PS/2 adapter. But, that's where it ends. The USB drive would not work with the PS/2 to USB adapter. This definitely would not work due to the physical connections of the wiring and also the conversion of 3 formats Serial, PS/2, and USB 2.0.....suck it faggots

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 02:53 AM] [#339]

This is clearly photoshopped. The pixels look funny on the ps/2 to usb converter.

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 02:54 AM] [#340]

@304
I'm not saying it does or does not work, but on a centronics pin 18 and 35 are 5v. So the power is there.

Anonymous [08-06-2010, 02:14 PM] [#506]

Sure, write a driver for it in DOS that supports hardware from the future, and it's possible. (This it like writing a source code for a device that doesn't exist yet)

It will not work. Shut the fuck up noobs.

first of all, you need some sort of driver, i used to have that exact same flash drive, and it comes with a driver. you should allready know thats not going to work. then you need to fill up the flash with some sort of image file (of maybe some sort of .GIF) in some specail way, im not being discriptive cause i doubt this could come to any use whatsoever.

First off, I love this picture just because it looks like one of the Star Wars ships. If you know the one, you know what I'm talking about, as evident by "you know the one".
I would like to bring Exhibit "A" to mind, if it pleases the board: the title, Will it work? "Of course it will."
Upon reading the first line, one assumes that the "it" in question is the object, one multi-adaptive tech item. I posit that the "it" it is referring is the posting of the picture itself, and that whether or not it works is dependant upon whether or not it spawned a discussion of its merits.
Let us not forget the second line, "of course it will". Quotes are used for two reasons (probably more if you take time to look, but I DIDN"T): 1)to give another credit for speech and 2)when you want to make those funny finger gestures. I now posit that this line merely references anothers words. Like cake, the quote is a lie.
Finally, I sugg

usb requires lots of juice and serial supplies hardly any - usb/ps2 is designed for keyboards and mice not devices that get written to - and thats before you even consider drivers

Anonymous [09-06-2010, 07:50 AM] [#781]

Cuz you have to use it on a PS3 you dip shit. No one is using, or writing anything relevant, for a PS2 anymore. Jesus Jumping Green Gumby Fuck Christ everyone knows that by now. Go by a PS3 cheapskate.

On the PS3 this works beautifully. Helped me earn that new title on CoD MW2 I've been working for.

there shouldn't be enough power provided to the usb drive. for those claiming it works--be more specific.

Bartmank11 [09-06-2010, 04:20 PM] [#859]

Parallel Port to D-Sub )( DSub to PS2 )(PS2 to USB .... I thinks its a question of drivers and software...Its a Possibiliy it might ... I have never really messed with parallel port because typically its for printers and such .. I beleive once the signel sends from the flash drive to the PS2 connection it will fail ... And Im gonna stick its all a question of drivers and Software :) NICE MIND F**K THOUGH !!!

Anonymous [09-06-2010, 05:05 PM] [#866]

@859
there is a bug in the chain. i blew up five computers and a dozen usb pen drives. you idiot. you forgot the level-shifter. i applied a max232 to convert 8-12V rs232 to 5V usb. with some diodes you can drop signal lines to 3.3V but that is not neccessary. try a usb-wlan 54G with dos8, you won't belive it.

These are all passive adapters. PS/2 to usb only works with usb & ps/2 mouses...

Anonymous [09-06-2010, 08:54 PM] [#894]

It's not a parallel port adapter. It's RS232 DB25 (serial). To get this to work, all you need is to hook this to an Iomega ZIP drive via a female-female crossover cable.

Anonymous [09-06-2010, 09:06 PM] [#896]

that's so awesome. hhahahaha

Well, at first sight it looked to me like a shaving-apparatus. Gillette mach 19 pin usb 2.0 or sumpin. I guess, it would work as such.
Oh, and I didn't believe this "it's shopped"stuff, but then I took a glimpse at the shadows of the PS2 to usb adapter and of the stick itself, and I'm wondering, why the two different shades of dark are so much better recognizable than in the rest of the shadows. By the way, this is so unimportant, I'm fascinated, how it can bring people to swear and insult each other. Cheers

I can't believe you guys actually have me thinking about this shit. USB needs power, it is a circuit, and thus requires an electrical current. I think that end adapter is VGA to DB-25. If this is the case, you may be able to access and transport data from the drive to the machine, as long as it provides some sort of current (which it should, according to my research on the types of devices that the male counterpart of the DB25 includes), but you would still require a driver of some sort, as well as some sort of communications interface.

Now excuse me because I need to go bitch slap the guy who sent this to me, because I don't think he actually expected me to take this seriously.

SerialDater [12-06-2010, 09:34 AM] [#1507]

Just tried it and it does work, bit slow but perfectly usable. What you're all forgetting is that USB stands for "Universal SERIAL" Bus" so it will work fine through a normal serial port. The PS2 connector is effectively just a pass though for the serial signal.

Anonymous [12-06-2010, 03:46 PM] [#1534]

looks legit.

Anonymous [12-06-2010, 03:53 PM] [#1535]

Course it won't work, it's a SanDisk Cruzer, those things don't work in normal usb ports. Why would they work in some shambled together converter ship?

Anonymous, PhD. [12-06-2010, 06:48 PM] [#1562]

The USB->PS/2 thingy is not even a converter. The Mouse/Keyboard has to implement the PS/2 protocol and communicate using it when connected to the adapter!
The only thing it does is to physically connect the wires!

Kyle [13-06-2010, 10:08 AM] [#1618]

It may work, but you would need a specific driver for it (obviously home brewed) But in theory, yes it should work. Parallel is exactly the same speed as usb 1.0, and even though these are connected via serial and ps2, since theres no actual bus connection, the ports should maintain integrity just through conductivity, but at the same time i'm not sure if parallel puts out current so you mat need a 5 volt adapter to feed your drive with electricity. and to answer your questions, of course it didn't work. what kind of idiot would take the time to write a driver for that contraption just to convert the pins and connections through 4 different architectures, also the cruzer usb stick has its own firmware specific to the usb architecture with its own applications and launchers which encrypt the actual memory module. it would take years or reverse engineering to get this to work if done by one individual, but it is more than possible for someone with insurmountable spare time.
Sry for essa

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 01:14 AM] [#1886]

duh ... it dont work omg..lol y even ask? lol funny as hell tho lol

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 01:50 AM] [#1892]

I severely doubt that that would work.
I mean, go ahead and try. But I reaaaaally doubt it.

Oh. My.

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 02:50 AM] [#1897]

why wouldn't this work?
An electron does not discriminate !
But the real question is why would you want it to work?

no it won't work.

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 01:56 PM] [#2026]

it does work i've been doing this for a while now you guys are all dumbasses and realize what the fuck to do instead you sit on your computers looking at what other people do and copy it and show it to all your freinds and act like you came up with it don't lie to yourself you did that you know it!!!

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 02:47 PM] [#2029]

This will most likely NOT work... the achitecture of the the 25-pin serial port is so old that the flash drive would probably blow its mind

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 03:03 PM] [#2031]

why would any even try to see if this would work and for the rest who cares, who has a machine that old to even use the adapter?

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 03:39 PM] [#2040]

You don't use a comma before a conjunctive unless it is at the end of a list, in which case it is known as the Oxford comma and is optional.

Punch yourself in the nut.

I'm not an expert by any means. But I'm almost sure its "Photo Shopped". Look how the usb drive is not inline with the rest. Plus that bread crumb doesn't have a shadow. Plus when you zoom out the image part of the mirror is missing. (To you pc noobies -> to zoom out left click once on the picture then hold the "alt" button while you press the "F4")

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 09:26 PM] [#2094]

It would probably work after you write a driver for the LPT to 9 pin -adapter to work with rs232 to ps2 -adapter to coprehend the ps2 to work with usb 2.0... and to me that sounds fucking retarted... but just maybe...

Anonymous [15-06-2010, 10:10 PM] [#2098]

We've been testing these at Area 51 since 1969. So far there's been only one catastrophic failure resulting in Windows Vista. The World was was deemed too unintelligent to grasp the truthiness of the situation and subsequently Windows 7 was implemented by the Buck Ofama administration. FYI, should you add an VGA to RCA to RGB adapter to the tail of the dongle you get free episodes of Lancelot Link.

Ist this the Microsoft Windows 7 licence key?!

Hardwareboy [17-06-2010, 12:29 PM] [#2339]

This won't work 'cause there is no voltage regulator in the chain and the current of an old 25p-RS232 (about 10 mA) would not be sufficient to drive a memory stick via USB interface. The 12 Volts coming from the RS232 might ruin the thumbdrive.

Anonymous [17-06-2010, 02:00 PM] [#2342]

it will never work

I checked the manual on the model 60-0485-01 and it is only compatible with a 2 GB thumb drive in this configuration. If you take off the casing and solder a jumper wire between red and purple, it will work. Small hack with a huge pay off!

It's a USB flash drive connected to a USB to PS/2 adapter, connected to a PS/2 to serial adapter, connected to a serial to parallel adapter. Guss you would use it to access data on the USB-drive from an old computer without a USB-port or something, if someone could make it work.

Thanks

Shouldn't work: it's not powered. Parallels have no power whereas USB has like 4 volts or something.

Omega303 [21-06-2010, 05:40 AM] [#2534]

no creo

Anonymous [21-06-2010, 06:27 AM] [#2535]

Anonymous [21-06-2010, 07:17 PM] [#2547]

@2531
USB has 5 volts.

It could work. But the parallel port is only 8 bits, and the new computers are 64 bits. That's why there are no more parallel ports on today's computers. It could work if you have an 8 bit computer, but writing those drivers is really really really hard.

Anonymous [21-06-2010, 07:20 PM] [#2548]

No chance, insufficient bus speed, no drivers, no plug and play, and the actual connection is broken inside the usb to ps2 converter.
Oh and there is no hub power on a parallel port so the USB device won't even light up.

Batavier [30-06-2010, 01:46 PM] [#2937]

Sure, but will it blend??

Anonymous [05-07-2010, 06:42 AM] [#3065]

CANT WORK!!!
the only reason is that a USB pen drive is a USB host, and so is the printer!!!

Works on a macintosh

Anonymous [17-07-2010, 03:01 AM] [#4052]

I've been wanting to make a custom piece of hardware that allows you to put a CSV of keyboard keys and times on a flashdrive, and then transmits those signals to the computer as a keyboard when you either plug it in to USB or a PS/2 port.

Dr Dewlittle [17-07-2010, 10:46 AM] [#4057]

Wow I tried this and its very cool. Now I can print directly to my thumb drive, then load the document back into my computer with the thumb drive, then rehook my printer up and print it.....saves time thanks.

NetSecurityPro [17-07-2010, 10:51 AM] [#4058]

GeeksquadTech [17-07-2010, 10:54 AM] [#4059]

Anonymous [19-07-2010, 04:11 AM] [#4130]

there's no way that's going to work. For one the parallel port doesn't speak usb. It also has the wrong number of pins and I think the voltage is wrong too.

A converter from USB to an RS-232 compatible serial port; more than a physical transition, it requires a driver in the host system software and a built-in processor to emulate the functions of the IBM-XT compatible serial port hardware.
